Condom Usage

Be a responsible partner. Many men have sex without even considering using a condom. You should not assume that your partner is using some type of birth control. Using condoms allows you to take responsibility toward reducing unwanted pregnancies and spreading sexually transmitted diseases. A condom can actually save your life.

How Do I Use a Condom?

1

Put on a new condom as soon as your penis gets hard and erect.

2

Leave a half-inch of space at the end of the condom to catch semen.

3

Pinch the tip to keep air out.

4

Unroll the condom to the base of the penis with the opposite hand.

After Sex

1

After ejaculation, withdraw your penis while it is still erect. Hold the condom firmly against the base of the penis to prevent slippage and leakage of semen.

2

Check the condom for visible damage such as holes. Then, wrap it in tissue and discard.

Condom Storage

  • Condoms should be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
  • Check the expiration or manufacturer's date on the box or individual package of condoms.
  • Condoms in damaged packages or that show obvious signs of deterioration should not be used regardless of their expiration date.
